New Pig | efficiency improvement of creative team, organizational improvement in planning and brand consistency

scenario:

New Pig, a global supplier of products designed for industrial safety and plant maintenance, was interested in evaluating it’s in-house creative team and getting some best–practice recommendations on how to improve efficiency, quality and brand consistency. While the team was very effective at developing and producing catalogs, they encountered some specific challenges as the media- and channel-mix expanded, including:

  • excessive cycle-times on non-catalog work due to one-size-fits-all processes
  • inconsistency in brand representation
  • account and staff management challenges
  • difficulty finding talent in geographical location
  • morale issues due to dark, cubicle-style work-space

actions taken:

Cohen Miller Consulting initially interviewed internal clients and staff, analyzed work product and processes against benchmarks, and provided detailed recommendations for improving the efficiency of the creative team, including:

  • strategy for hiring/repositioning staff in the areas of operational management, account management and web design
  • revised organizational structure and role definitions
  • work segmentation structure with processes tailored to levels and types of work
  • specific team and internal client communications practices

outcome:

Client satisfaction and creative team morale increased significantly. The creative team moved into some really nice creative space that’s very conducive to creative collaboration with a lot of open area and places to meet on the spot. They incrementally improve quality output while increasing workload by about 40% with less staff & some outside creative agencies.

Jennifer and Emily were up for the challenge and took the time to learn and understand our business, providing us with tactical and comprehensive recommendations…
