Publix Super Markets | on-site immersion with focus on development of new operational model for marketing team and position alignment
relationship snapshot:
Cohen Miller consulted with the vice president of marketing and the director of creative services at Publix, the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States. We spent 3 days on-site to evaluate the current operational practices of the in-house marketing group, which included three sub-departments (Marketing/ Advertising, Marketing/Research and Creative Services). This on-site immersion allowed us to better understand the entire team’s current operational and organizational structures, as well as the culture of the company. We then identified improvement opportunities and recommended a refined organizational structure (with a specific focus on the increasing impact of digital media).
Later, we were separately contracted to assist in developing detailed job descriptions for several new roles including the new senior manager of marketing operations and two additional roles (titles still being determined) focused on content and digital strategy. We also evaluated existing job responsibilities for 20 management roles within the marketing team. We are currently consulting with them on implementation of a tiering strategy that will impact project initiation through project close-out.
